Scholarships are typically merit-based and will generally take time and effort to complete. There are three different types of scholarships: school nomination, not requiring a nomination, and entrance scholarships. OSAP

What is OSAP?
OSAP, the Ontario Student Assistance Program, is a type of financial aid that can assist you with covering expenses like childcare in addition to your tuition. OSAP provides two types of financing: grants and student loans. Grants are a type of financial aid that you do not need to repay, but student loans are financial aid that you must pay back once your studies are over.  When you submit an OSAP application, you will be automatically considered for both loans and grants. After your application is accepted, you can always decide not to accept the loan.

How much can you get?

The amount of financing you can receive depends on:

  • Education expenses – What you require for tuition, child care, supplies and equipment, and personal living expenses

  • Personal financial situation – What you and your family’s income is, your family size, and other factors

  • Course load – Whether you’re a part-time or full-time student

Look After Your Mental Health

Your senior year will be hard but it's important to take care of yourself. Don’t let your school work overwhelm your life, and cost you your mental health. Here are some of our favourite ways to stay mentally healthy!

Try to stay active

Staying active is vital for your mental health as it not only boosts your mood, concentration and alertness, but improves your cardiovascular and overall physical health as well. Some ways to stay active are to join a recreational sports team, bike instead of drive, go on walks or jogs, or join intramural activities.

Don’t forget to sleep!

Most people need seven to nine hours a night, to ensure that they are getting enough sleep. Pulling all-nighters can be okay every once in a while, but they should be avoided at all costs. Getting enough sleep improves your physical and mental health, and makes it so you’re less stressed and irritable throughout the day.

Eat healthy

We understand that it’s easy to grab a bag of chips or some chocolate when studying for tests or exams, especially when stress levels are high. However, it is important to recognize the impact that our food choices can have on our mental and physical health, particularly during times of academic pressure. Eating healthy, unprocessed foods not only fuels our bodies with essential nutrients but also plays a significant role in enhancing cognitive function and concentration. When you eat healthy, you provide your brain with the vital energy and nutrients you need to function optimally.
